Nora Heilmann is a Brooklyn-based yoga teacher sharing the art of asana (posture), pranayama (breathing techniques), meditation, yoga philosophy, and yogic ethics. She is passionate about veganism, environmental consciousness, species and gender equality, and enjoys exploring all different kinds of physical movement as well as making music (didgeridoo, handpan).

Nora studied a variety of yoga styles (Vinyasa, Ashtanga, Iyengar, Hatha Yoga) and had many wonderful teachers, who have communicated different aspects of yoga. Her own teaching practice is a remix of those teachings, reading books, personal research and constant experimentation with re-shaping yoga for the needs of the contemporary practitioner in a contemporary and always changing world. She has completed over 1600 hours of teacher training in yoga and meditation and has been teaching since 2007. She is a guest lecturer at the 300-hrs YogaWorks Advanced Teacher Training. Nora specializes in one-on-one breath coaching and pranayama (yogic breathing techniques).

Originally from Germany, Nora studied and lived in Amsterdam for 15 years where she worked as a choreographer and performance artist, before moving to New York City in 2013. She lives with her wife Tamar Samir and cat Emme in Brooklyn. Nora and Tamar co-teach yoga retreats and the 50-hrs philosophy module at the YogaWorks NYC Teacher Training.
