I am a Brooklyn based yoga teacher and former performance artist. I love to share the art of yoga, which I understand to be a fluid practice that extends into all aspects of our personal and interpersonal lives. I hope to inspire yoga practitioners of all ages, gender orientations, and race to experiment with the variety of yogic tools: asana (posture), pranayama (breathing techniques), meditation, deep listening, ethics, veganism, environmentalism, and activism.

Through yoga, I would like to empower anyone in finding inner peace, so that balance can arise from an inner place of stability and clarity, to then extend out into the world. I facilitate yoga practice as a collective movement towards increased awareness, sensitivity, kindness, and peace between all species on planet earth.

I have studied meditation, pranayama, asana, and yoga philosophy with a variety of teachers from different methods, and my teaching practice is mainly informed by Ashtanga, Iyengar, and classical Hatha Yoga. I collaborate with my wife Tamar Samir on leading retreats in remote natural settings, where a deeper experience of stillness and conscious collective living is possible.

Born in Germany, I lived in Amsterdam from 1997-2012, and moved to NYC in 2013. I have been teaching yoga since 2007. My most influential teachers have been Clive Sheridan (Hatha Yoga, Pranayama, meditation, Vedanta, Tantra), Richard Freeman (Ashtanga Yoga, Yoga philosophy) and Michael Stone (Yoga, Zen Buddhism, meditation, social activism).
